In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add the 1⁄2 cup oats and cook according to package instructions (usually around 5 minutes for rolled oats). For steel-cut oats, use 1 cup water to 1⁄4 cup oats and simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are soft and have absorbed the water.
Once the oats are cooked, stir in 1 scoop of protein powder, 1 tbsp almond butter, and 2 tbsp almond milk until well combined and creamy.
Slice one banana and place the slices on top of the oatmeal.
Stir everything together for extra creaminess, or enjoy as is with the banana on top!
Notes
Substitutions: Use your other favorite nut butter or fruit.
Steel-Cut Oats: If you prefer steel-cut oats, they offer a chewier texture and slightly more protein and fiber. Simply increase the cooking time to 20-30 minutes and adjust the water ratio (1 cup water to 1/4 cup oats). For a smoother consistency, you can add a bit more liquid.
