1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican blend)
Directions
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned. Drain excess fat if necessary, then stir in the taco seasoning and cook according to package instructions (typically adding water and simmering).
While the beef cooks, wash and prepare the lettuce, avocado, and red onion.
Spread a layer of refried beans on each tostada.
Layer with seasoned ground beef, shredded lettuce, red onion, salsa, cheese, and avocado.
Serve immediately with additional toppings like black olives, jalapeños, or sour cream if desired.
Notes
Crispier Tostadas: Warm tostadas in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes before assembling.
Spicy Kick: Add jalapeños, hot salsa, or a sprinkle of cayenne for extra heat.
Vegetarian Option: Swap the ground beef for seasoned black beans or plant-based crumbles.
Make it a Meal: Serve with Mexican rice or a fresh corn salad.
