Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHey! I think they are fine as long as from a quality source. They are not technically raw just cooked via salt essentially. The benefits of eating salmon outweigh the risks in this scenario, especially if this is the only way you like salmon, for example. ( :
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantThank you!!!
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHey! These are both reviewed under the prenatal vitamin note here: https://new.theprenatalnutritionlibrary.com/prenatal-vitamins/ (in the video at the bottom)
( :
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantDefinitely!
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantMy favorite of theirs is actually just the prenatal formula: https://shop.smartypantsvitamins.com/Prenatal-Formula/p/SPT-004309&c=SmartyPants@Adults@Prenatal&sort_by=0 – I’m not a fan of all the herbs some of these prenatals like to add!
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHey!! Check out the note on chocolate (https://new.theprenatalnutritionlibrary.com/chocolate/) which includes cacao!
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHi! I don’t recommend avoiding egg yolks even if you have high cholesterol. Egg yolks have all the choline and the majority of the other nutrients eggs provide. Science has disproven the thought that dietary cholesterol causes high blood cholesterol. Here is a good article on this topic: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/how-many-eggs-should-you-eat
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHey! Apologies for missing your Q in my initial run through!! You can always repost and use the forum search feature to see if your question has already been discussed! ( :
It is not recommended to consume aloe vera during pregnancy but safe to use topically (on the skin).
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHey! Apologies for missing your Q, you can always re-post it!! I think pre-sliced increases the risk of potential contamination, so you can either heat it or find one that isn’t pre-sliced for best practices. ( :
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHi!! My apologies for missing your Q – you can always re-post if you don’t receive a reply in 4 days. There are MANY dietary interventions for Hashimoto’s and thyroid health is crucial for staying pregnant and having a healthy pregnancy. Your thyroid supplies hormones for both you and the baby during the first half of pregnancy, so if it is not functioning properly, there can definitely be issues. In addition, many nutrients are key in ensuring your thyroid can produce important hormones like selenium, iodine, iron. This is something I’d recommend seeking 1:1 guidance and nutrition care from a dietitian. We have some information here on thyroid health, but an individualized plan is most optimal.
Have you thought about switching doctors?
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHi! Sorry, I must have missed this question!! And, yes, it is safe.
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHey! I think the one downside is the artificial sweeteners, the second downside, I don’t see anywhere on their website about additional testing for purity/quality. It’s important to remember the supplement industry is not well-regulated so like prenatal vitamins, we want to make sure the company is getting additional testing done!
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHey! Yay, for being more than halfway! And, sorry your appetite has not fully returned ) : this is not uncommon. Making sure you get enough protein is going to be really important especially now that you are beyond the halfway point so I do think the addition of protein powder to mix in anything is a good idea. You can mix it in yogurt and milk, too! Do you do smoothies? This could be a good way to get in more vegetables. I would also try just more bland foods with little to no seasoning. Outside of garlic, if you aren’t sensitive to onions, this is another way to up veggie intake and get the flavor. Another option, focusing on raw/cold foods versus cooking everything.
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantIt should!! ( :
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantGreat! Thanks, ladies!
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantShould be! Some earl greys will add additional herbs so that’s why I say “should” – check out the herbal teas note, and just make sure it doesn’t have any of the herbs listed under “avoid”. ( :
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHey! Food form of folate is recommended, so this one is folate, not folic acid. I also recommend at least part of the vitamin A in a prenatal be the active form, retinyl palmitate, this is a downfall of the garden of life. Check out the note on vitamin A! I actually think smartypants is a better option, overall, but it also depends on your iron levels.
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipanthaha! Either way! ( :
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHey! I always recommend typing your products into the EWG Skin Deep database, they will tell you how clean your products are!
Ryann Kipping, MPH, RDN, LDNParticipantHey! So sorry, hang in there! ) : If you think the prenatal has anything to do with your nausea, then you could absolutely try a new one, maybe the smartypants gummy? It is typically much easier to get down, then you could switch back to the full circle once nausea subsides. If you don’t think it is related to the prenatal vitamins then maybe try to keep up with it as best as you can; you can always lower the dose and take 6 versus 8, also.
I hope you feel better soon!
