Hey, Lindsey! Nothing special; following the meal plans as a general guide is great! You want your results to be as accurate as possible so really it is not ideal to make any big changes to your diet leading up to it or day of. So, a meal with protein, fats, carbs is great!

Hey! I think they are fine as long as from a quality source. You are right, they are not technically raw just cooked via salt essentially. The benefits of eating salmon outweigh the risks in this scenario, especially if this is the only way you like salmon, for example.

Hey! This is definitely an individualized question I am unable to answer here, unfortunately. What I can say: Calcium needs are 1000 mg/day before and during pregnancy so this is not too much, additionally, 1000 IU’s is not too much vitamin D either, some of my clients are taking upwards of 7000 IUs to get their levels higher. Be sure to check out the dairy-free note, plus the notes on calcium and vitamin D here!

Hey, Ashley! I generally recommend against ceviche unless it is cooked to a temperature of 145 F. Raw shellfish is known to cause food borne illnesses, of course, this doesn’t mean it will so ultimately it is your decision! Lemon/lime juice isn’t going to kill any pathogens.

Hey! Yes, there is some truth to this, however, it is mainly in the elderly and malnourished patients. Vitamin B12 is the main concern. I would take it separate from your prenatal.

Hey, hey! There is info on vitamin D under the vitamin D note, however, there is no set amount of supplementation that raises levels to a specific number, this will be different based on the individual. The best way to know is to test, supplement, and re-test to see if it is working. You would have to try realllyyy hard to overdo vitamin D, majority of women are not getting near enough!!

Hey Kate! Just a reminder I cannot provide individualized guidance here. Yes, I would definitely recommend re-testing after you’ve made dietary changes. Hgb A1C is how diabetes is diagnosed and shows how your blood sugars have been over the past few months. This means you need to focus on your managing your blood sugars better, amongst other things potentially, again I have to do a full blood work review and assessment to provide guidance here specific to you.

Hey! I don’t recommend it due to the packaging which is usually lined with BPA. Popcorn itself is a fine snack. You can find different packaging or buy the kernels and pop it in a glass container in the microwave or stove top for safer options!

Hey! I’m actually in communication with Daily Harvest right now, I know they are very popular but I’ve actually never tried it myself (going to order soon so I can review it!). The bowls you will heat, I imagine, so I think those are okay. The smoothies give me slight pause because it does come with pre-cut fruit which isn’t the BEST food safety practice. I can certainly email and ask if they’ve ever had a re-call or something like this!

Oh, great question!! I don’t know of any company that does specific meals for postpartum (although genius and super helpful idea!); I recently tried Eat to Evolve and it was really yummy, however, they are a more low-carb company. This isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker but the first months postpartum you definitely don’t need to limit carbs.

Hey! Not really! The only one that gives slight pause is unripe papaya (the green variety) but even in small amounts it is unlikely to do harm. Is there one you are specifically thinking of? We have some here in the library but obviously there are literally thousands of fruits and vegetables!
