Hey! I would use the forum search feature here (we are adding this to the app, so you may have to use the browser version). There are A LOT of questions on green powders from a lot of different brands, and you’ll also see my general recommendations on them.

Hi! Yes, I think it is okay as long as it is from a trusted source, I.e. somewhere you’ve been before and know it is quality!

Beta-carotene is the vitamin A found in sweet potatoes and other vegetables!

Hey! Too much supplementation of the active form of vitamin A (retinol or retinyl palmitate) can be harmful, but you won’t overdo vitamin A from food even if you eat liver moderately. (: In fact, the more beta-carotene you eat the less it is converted to the active form of vitamin A. There is more information on vitamin A in the vitamin A note here in the library, too!

Hey! Here are some good options; infusing your water with lemon, cucumber, mint, or other fruits and herbs, unsweetened coconut water, unsweetened sparkling water, herbal teas like ginger, chamomile, peppermint, lemon balm, most made from fruits are okay, there are some caffeine-free green teas on the market, vital proteins collagen waters, TRUE lemon packets (sweetened with stevia).

Hey! Them not being able to identify how much of each nutrient is in the drink gives me pause. Products like this, just like any supplement, isn’t well-regulated by the FDA. This is always something to keep in mind, especially during pregnancy. You can get the nutrients it provides through food, and typically the only reason you need to replenish electrolytes is if you lost a lot through sweating or vomiting. Are there other electrolyte beverages you’ve used? Many of added sugars which is obviously a downfall of most, but there are some others you can find that don’t. Let me know if you want me to review another one!

Hey! Both can certainly fit into your diet, but chickpea or any other bean-based pasta can add more protein which can be a good switch if you eat limited meat or are struggling to meet your protein needs in general (maybe in the later stages of pregnancy).

Hey! I like that they have less sugar than liquid IV, but some of them do of herbs in them and they also have vitamins/minerals, so you’d want to calculate this with your prenatal vitamin to make sure you aren’t overdoing any nutrient via supplementation.

Hey! Yes, these look yummy! The only downside is the sunflower oil, it would be better if they used avocado, coconut, or olive oil, but it’s not a total deal breaker!

Hi Isabel, thank you for sharing. I do believe that even having an online community can help get us through something as hard as trying to conceive and pregnancy. While I cannot personally relate to this and I am not going to pretend as I can, I am quite sure others in this community may have a similar experience. The goal of TPNL is to help empower you with education so that you can make informed choices about food during your pregnancy! The secondary goal is the community, connection, and support piece. ( :

Do you have a therapist you worked with previously? It is always a good idea to talk to a professional in this area!

in reply to: liquid IV #11146

Hey! I’m not a big fan of liquid IV. 1 stick has 11 grams of sugar which is okay if you are limiting sugar elsewhere in your diet, but to me, I don’t want to use my daily sugar allowance in my water, if that makes sense! Unless you are sweating a lot or vomiting, you don’t really need to replenish electrolytes either. You can get potassium and sodium from eating a well-rounded diet!

In summary, nothing in it is harmful, but is it necessary? Remember, you can meet your fluid goals from anything liquid (soups, smoothies, milks, juice, fruits, etc.)

The main downside to this product is the added sugar (12 g). The vitamins and minerals it provides are in your prenatal vitamin! You could also just do a protein shake, add protein powder to oatmilk or another milk!

Hi, Carlie, my main tip is to focus your energy on what you can control. As we know, many things when trying to conceive, and when pregnant are out of our control which is tough, but if you let some of these things go and focus on your day to day, i.e. what is happening now, this will help. Take it day by day, week by week, etc. Sending positive vibes your way!

Hey! check out the note on chocolate (https://new.theprenatalnutritionlibrary.com/chocolate/) which includes cacao! On poppy seeds, they are safe, the main reason you may see them on avoid lists is bc they may show up in blood work as drugs but to my knowledge, I think most medical facilities can distinguish this.
